Hearing Loops

Disability Discrimination Act 1995 Afils Hearing Loops

The Act aims at ending any discrimination which disabled people may currently still face. How does it affect you? It gives disabled people new rights in various areas including access to goods, facilities and services. Service providers will have a legal duty to implement facilities that ensure the deaf are not disadvantaged at any point where staff deal with the public.

It will be necessary for companies and organisations to address these obligations by providing systems that effectively communicate with anyone having to rely on a deaf-aid device. Under Sections 6 and 21 of the Act, all provisions need to be in place by October 2004.
